Frequently Asked Questions / New to Yoga?!

I remember my first yoga class! I googled what to wear, I didn't bring enough water and I stressed about if my leggings were see through or not! Whilst I can't help you with the latter 🙈 I can certainly try answer the most common questions asked by new students.

4. What if I miss a class during the block?

If you miss a week in a Tralee based class, you are welcome to catch up in another Tralee class anytime during the block (if you miss an Aerial or Prenatal Yoga class please consult with Maeve), once there is space in your chosen class (booking is essential). 'Rolling-over' of classes to the next block is not permitted. Transfer of classes to another individual is not permitted either. If you miss a class in Banna, then apologies but we cannot facilitate catch-ups.

If you can only commit to a few weeks of a block, please discuss this with your Teacher in advance of booking.

5. Do I need to be flexible?

If you are not flexible then yoga is for you! People from all walks of life and in very different physical conditions are welcome to class. Increased flexibility is a great side effect of a regular practice, but not a prerequisite!

6. What should I eat / drink before class?

Please drink at least a litre of water before you arrive. Come on an empty stomach of at least two hours. If you are hungry in the 2 hours before class a piece of fruit or juice is a good choice, in time you will know what works best for you.

7. What should I wear / bring?

Heads up, you are probably going to sweat a bit in Vinyasa class! Women normally wear sports tops and bottoms (leggings/shorts). Men normally wear shorts and T-shirt / sports top. Feel free to wear what you feel comfortable in! Bring along a blanket for relaxation. In Yin Yoga you will need extra layers as it's non-heat building.

We practise yoga barefoot. If you have any foot complaints please make sure that you are wearing appropriate foot coverings. Socks can be worn if you have foot conditions (rubber grips on the soles are best). Outdoors can get a bit chilly so bring some layers.

8. What do I need to bring?

A Yoga mat is essential. Bring a large towel to cover your mat & water. And a blanket for relaxation. See more info above in Q3. Please make sure all mobile phones are switched off. Valuables and possessions are at the owner’s risk.

9. Is parking available?

Yes, most have free parking or on street parking close by.

10. What if I have a slight injury?

Please inform the teacher of any concerns or injuries you may have. Please keep us regularly informed of any health changes or injuries.

11. Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes! Give the gift of Yoga to someone special! Vouchers available for all budgets. Valid for use on Tralee based classes only. Please note they cannot be used for The Ashe Hotel Yoga Brunch events or in Banna Leisure Centre. 6 month expiry on all vouchers. Credit card purchase available on vouchers or €100 or more.

12. Where is Baile Mhuire Day Care Centre?

Baile Mhuire is in Balloonagh, Tralee. When driving past Balloonagh school on your right going towards Cahersalee, Baile Mhuire is past the old Convent & it’s the next set of open black iron gates on your right.

13. Anything else?

Know that your practice will take time, you won’t get everything on the first day. Trust and listen to your instructors; with time and patience it will come. Come back soon! The more you come the more you learn. Getting back on your mat as soon as possible helps relieve stiffness and soreness, and build your understanding of yoga.
