Tralee's Big Yoga Weekend with Golden Pear Yoga Events


Golden Pear Yoga Events is a partnership between Maeve Ferris of Ebb & Flow Yoga and Cara Wallace of Yoga with Cara. Both Teachers based in Tralee have come together to showcase local talent bringing a variety of Yoga & Wellness workshops right to you, here in Tralee! Our ethos is local, high quality, affordable & different!

We are super excited to launch our first venture together as a Yoga Weekend. Taking place in the stunning Ashe Hotel, Tralee on the 14th & 15th October 2017.

Registration & Payment:

  • Half Day Ticket: €45 (From 9am – 1pm Saturday or 9.15am – 1.30pm Sunday) Includes break refreshments of healthy treats, tea/herbal tea/coffee & water.
  • Full day Ticket: €80 Saturday or Sunday. Includes 2 x break refreshments
  • Weekend Ticket: €150 for both Saturday & Sunday. Includes break refreshments on both days
  • Please note Lunch is NOT included in any ticket and is available as an add-on option for €15 daily. This will include a healthy vegetable soup, a Buddha bowl, a selection of breads (with gluten free options) and tea/coffee. The Buddha Bowl & soup must be booked online in advance as it will not be available to purchase on the day. Full al la carte menu will also be available. Please note The Ashe Hotel does not permit any external snacks or lunch to be consumed on premises; you are welcome to go out for lunch if you prefer to dine off site.

Vinyasa Yoga Workshop with Cara Wallace

It’s a dynamic form of yoga where you’ll fluidly move from one pose to the next while connecting breathing to movement. It helps develop strength and flexibility in places you didn't know you had! It’s perfect style for beginners to experience different aspects of yoga such as breathing techniques, a variety of postures and movement all in one class. For experienced yogis, expect challenging poses and up-level options! We’ll have a cracking sound track too, to help you along your journey!

11.10am – 11.30am Break Time

Tea / herbal tea / coffee with homemade Vegan sweet treats made by yoga retreat Vegan Chef Claire Murphy

11.30am – 1pm Fly Flow with Maeve & Cara

A playful & fun Arm Balance & Inversion workshop suited to all levels (you don’t have to be able to do inversions to try this class out!). You’ll learn the preparation for and poses such as Crow, Side Crow, 8 Limbed Staff Pose and others. See the world for upside down in poses such as Shoulder, Head & Handstand. We will work together in this fun, energetic workshop building a sense of trust & community together. Suitable for all levels & experience.

1pm – 2pm Lunch

Vegetarian Buddha Bowl Salads & Soup are available to order as an add-on / opt-in for €15 (please note lunch is NOT included in the price of any ticket). If you are joining us for lunch we will dine together 😊 Should you have any queries or dietary requirements please don’t hesitate to ask!

2pm – 2.30pm Lecture with Q&A - Healthy Eating on the Go

Learn how to fuel your body the healthy way for a busy life on the go. Our local Nutritionist’s details will be shared in due course.

2.30pm - 3.30pm Yoga.Dance,Party

Get your yoga groove on, synchronising breath, body & beat to the sounds of DJ Jonno Brien live on the decks. Practise a flowing sequence to awesome sounds!

3.30pm – 3.45pm Break Time

3.45pm – 5.30pm Restorative Yoga & Crystal Bowl Sound Healing with Cara Wallace & Susan Lane

A tranquil style of yoga, using blankets, bolsters blocks and cushions to encourage your body to let go and relax deeply. As there is no muscular activity, the body is supported & held into position. Susan Lane’s crystal bowl healing therapy will accompany this practise. The bowl vibrations create a very pure wave form that carries through the human body promoting healing & harmonisation within.

9.40am – 11.15am Ashtanga Yoga Workshop with Deirdre O’ Donoghue

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a system of yoga that follows a set pattern of postures, linked together by the breath, designed to detoxify the organs, improve health, concentration and circulation while making the body strong and flexible. Suitable for all levels of experience guided by Deirdre, a wonderful local teacher with over 10 years teaching experience. You’re gonna love this!

11.15am – 11.30am Break Time

11.30am – 1.30pm AcroYoga with Fiona Ashley

A truly joyous practise blending the wisdom of yoga, the dynamic power of acrobatics and the loving-kindness of Thai massage. Unlike regular yoga, it’s practised in pairs or groups of 3 or more. The base lies on the floor, the flyer moves through postures balanced on the base’s hands & feet, the spotter keeps the flyer save and offers alignment cues. Some postures are more dynamic, others deeply therapeutic. Don’t be put off by the word ‘acrobatic’, the basic moves are accessible to anyone with a little fitness & flexibility. Open to all levels, complete beginners welcome. Starting with a Vinyasa Flow warm up, we will cover the elements of the practise in a safe & supportive environment. No partner needed, just your energy & playful spirit. Expect laughter & fun!

2.30pm – 3pm Lecture & Guided Meditation with Cara Wallace

Practical Yoga Tools for Everyday Wellbeing. Paying tribute to the roots of yoga tradition and how we can use these in our everyday lives. A guided meditation to promote relaxation and stress relief. Bring on your Zen!

3pm – 4.30pm Yin Yoga, Mindfulness & Essential Oils Workshop with Maeve Ferris

This is a practice that will help to slow down an over active mind, finding a more peaceful state. It is a deep and meditative practice. It incorporates breathwork, mindfulness, meditation techniques and long held stretches. Yin Yoga works specifically on the tendons, fascia, and ligaments with the aim of increasing circulation to the joints and improving flexibility. Each posture will be held for 3 to 5 minutes allowing the body to release and relax in its own time, creating a fantastic sense of well-being. During this workshop guidance will be offered, to help direct one’s attention and energy towards the serenity and peace in the here and now, regardless of the chaos in the world around or within you. Essential oils will be used during the practise to increase the sense of deep relaxation.

4.45pm – 5.45pm Yoga, Music, Chanting & Meditation with Jack Harrison (Celtic School of Yoga)

A unique and special workshop combining yoga, music, chanting & meditation. Jack has a Masters degree in Irish Folklore and Archaeology; by combining his interests in yoga, music, and folklore/mythology/ archaeology - the Celtic School of Yoga was born. It ties together the yoga traditions of India with those of the Celtic world. These practices explore how it is to ally movement of the body with breath, focus, mythology, poetry, music and the natural world.

Parking:

There is limited free parking at the hotel and lots of on street paid parking (free on Sundays). Maine Street Multi-story carpark is open until 6.30pm Saturday and is 2 mins walk to The Ashe Hotel.
